After a chiropractic adjustment, most of our patients say they feel great – less tense and more agile, even “lighter”. But, as time passes muscle memory can pull joints back out of alignment and your spine can settle back into it’s old pattern, causing discomfort again. We want to offer some tips to help you make the most of your chiropractic appointment with us, so you can maximize how well you hold your adjustments between your planned visits.
After your Chiropractor Appointment:
Drink a lot of Water
Try to drink half your weight in ounces. So if you weigh 140 lbs., drink at least 70 oz. of water a day (even more on an adjustment day). This helps to flush toxins out of your body that are released during a chiropractic adjustment.
Follow the Plan
When you have an appointment with us, it is more than just a spinal adjustment. We will talk about how small changes in work, home, and play can improve your overall health. Ask us questions, and follow the plan!
Sit and Sleep Right
We all spend a lot of time sleeping and too much time sitting! If you sit at a computer a lot, ask us about positioning your chair, monitor and body correctly to maintain proper alignment. Always sleep on your side or back, not your tummy! Ask us about finding the right pillow for your neck curvature.
Keep Moving
Movement is medicine and back adjustments create movement. After an adjustment, avoid sitting for long periods of time. Go for a walk or bike ride, or ask us about other safe activities that are good for you.
